The employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions and is exposed to airborne particles. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. + High school education or GED equivalent. + Knowledge of welding and general mechanics preferred. + Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in MSHA policies and procedures manual, and OSHA guidelines. + Must possess knowledge of tools and machines, including uses, repair, and maintenance. + Regularly maintains power systems on dredge and mobile equipment. + Starts power winch that draws in or lets out cable to change position of dredge.
+ Watches gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly Pump water to clear machinery and pipes. + Operate power winch to draw in or let out cable to change position. + The Dredge Operator needs the ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions. + Must possess skills required to perform routine maintenance on equipment and the ability to determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed. + Moves levers to place dredge in position for excavation, engage hydraulic pump, raise and lower suction boom, and control rotation cutterhead. + Operates power-driven dredge to excavate and mine sand and gravel at bottom of lakes. Responsible for operating a power dredge to excavate waterways and to mine sand and gravel.
